Outdoor Fire Places, Fire Pits, Outdoor Kitchens, Counters, Grills and Appliances
An outdoor kitchen can include all the appliances needed to produce world-class meals; charcoal, gas or infa-red grills, smokers, side burners, outdoor refrigerators, storage spaces and sinks for clean-up.
Multiple Grill Sizes, Warming Drawers, Side Burners, Sinks, Mini-Fridges and Granite Countertops
Built-in grills come in a variety of sizes that can run on gas or propane or be connected to an existing home supply line. These grills include features such as rotisseries, side burners and warming drawers so that the main dish, sauce and sides are hot when they reach the table. If your tastes are more exotic, consider adding a smoker, wok burner or clay pizza oven.
An outdoor refrigerator eliminates the worry of salads spoiling in the sun and keeps condiments close at hand. A cold drink from the fridge is certainly nice but to keep it cool, icemakers are available as outdoor-rated units. If you enjoy frozen drinks, install an electric outlet nearby so you can use your household blender. Including a sink in your outdoor kitchen makes clean up easy and provides fresh water for drinking and food preparation.
Appliance manufacturers often offer slide-in storage cabinet units that complement their product lines. These units conceal utilities such as plumbing or propane tanks and offer storage for grilling utensils, picnic china and outdoor seating cushions. Custom constructed cabinet doors can also be designed to complement any home.
Any number of materials are suitable for outdoor countertops. If properly sealed, granite, tile and bluestone all offer durable work surfaces. The choice of material allows you to personalize an outdoor kitchen. Extending the backsplash of the counter to create high bar seating creates a more casual spot to have drinks and socialize with the chef.
Televisions and Audio
Entertain outdoors with appliances rated for outdoor use including television and wireless audio systems that can play your favorite music channels and be controlled from your mobile device.
Take the chill off late spring and fall nights with infa-red heaters mounted on the ceiling of your outdoor room. Enjoy warmth with the flip of a switch and without an added piece of outdoor furniture.
Linear Burner or Fire Bowl
These purely decorative elements allow a flame to be placed almost anywhere you can imagine: on a wall, in a pool or as art of a sculpture. They are often modern in design and treated more like a piece of art than function. These focal points are perfect for adding drama to the landscape.
Typically built into a patio, these units sit about 18” high and can be configured for wood or gas. The major paver manufacturers (EP Henry, Techo Bloc and Belgard) produce fire pit kits from their wallstone materials that complement the colors and textures of these products. They can also be constructed using boulders or veneer stone and capped with a variety of materials. Add a seating wall to create a warm and cozy nook, right in your own backyard
The sky is the limit on a fireplace; simple gas burning units don’t require a chimney or masonry structure which keeps the cost lower but a fireplace is often a combination of form and function intended to offer heat as well as ambience. They are a wonderful feature to center an outdoor room, block an unsightly view and allow for decoration as well as providing efficient heat. Common materials include pavers, stucco, stone and brick. The extent to which one designs the decorative aspects will greatly affect cost: size and scale of firebox, hearth and mantle, height of chimney, wood box and details such as corbels, tiles, chimney pots and keystones can increase it substantially.
Fire pits and Fireplaces are both available with wood or gas burning options. While purists enjoy the crackle of a fire and smell of wood smoke, a gas fireplace allows you to have an inviting space year round at the click of a switch.
